As of now, this will be the last post in this journal. I'm leaving it up because I'm vain enough to think some people actually like my writing. Do to some serious RL issues I'm going to be a non-person online for a long time. I don't know how long. I'll get back when I can if I can. Love to my mate and Rory. Title: The 5 Times Chase Should Have Kissed Jack and Didn't

Spoilers: Day 2.5 and Day 3
Summary: Chase has five big regrets.
A/N: For the five things challenge.
Chase should have kissed Jack when the older man pressed his dog-tags into his hand. Sure they’d just met, but agent from DC owed the former Delta something. After all the man was saving his life. Instead he curled his hands around the tags and said, “You better keep your head down for a bit.”
“Let me worry about that, kid.”
“It’s my life,” Chase reminded him.
Jack gave him a dangerous smile. “I know.”
When Jack told Chase they were partners, the younger man should have kissed him. All he did was blink and say, “I can take care of myself.”
“Sure kid, before or after you get yourself fired,” Jack shot back.
It took less than an instant to decide. “Fine, but you’re hiring my tech too.”
Standing so close Chase could feel the heat from the older man’s body, Jack answered, “If she can keep up.” Later Chase would swear he could feel the brush of breath across his mouth.
Jack was worried before he went to Mexico. Chase tried to be comforting. They were in the locker room. Jack was taking a shower. His partner leaned up against the dividing wall and shot off jokes. After one particularly lewd one involving a horny SEAL and a SWAT guy the older man cracked a small smile. It sent a wave of warmth through the younger agent. With his damp, blonde hair slicked back and his pale eyes sparkling he looked utterly kissable. But Chase didn’t. He should have.
Sweat covered Jack’s face. Chase knew it was from the withdrawal. He leaned back, “Let me be upfront with you, Jack. I look up to you, and I'd even take a bullet for you. Instead, I'm holding a mirror right in front of your face. I know what they did to you when you were undercover with the Salazars. If something goes wrong, I'm always there when you need me.” He held his breath, not backing down despite Jack’s warning looked.
“Mind your own business Chase.”
The older man’s growl set Chase’s hackles up. He would not be patronized. Not after being so open with Jack, trying to be supportive. “Today is NOT the day to prove that everything is okay and this will be a rough day. Get your head straight man, and do what you got to do.” He should have kissed him instead.
Right before Jack cut off his hand, Chase should have kissed him. Jack looked at his partner with such pain in his eyes Chase felt compelled to do something. He said, “Do it.” But those cold words did nothing to convey the depth of his emotions. It would have said more if he’d just found the courage to kiss Jack. Maybe then the older man would have understood all was forgiven.

I'm alive. No thanks to that idiot Roger's Ranger who gave me a second degree burn with the barrel of his rifle. I was trying to hand him cartiridges and he swings the barrel towards the indians and hits the side of my face. I now have a lovely burn mark on my cheek. Capt'n, Sarge, and Ricky tore him into hamburger. I feel loved. Also, I bought myself a beauty of a full-sized claymore. Ricky carried it when I broke the main spring on my second musket and he ended up with a pair of pistols. Anyways, I'm alive. The French are dead. Huzzah. |
